Doctoral Researcher for "Aboveground biodiversity patterns and processes across rainforest transformation landscapes" Project

The Collaborative Research Centre 990 / CRC 990 (http://www.uni-goettingen.de/efforts) at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is offering the position of a Doctoral researcher in the Scientific Project “Aboveground biodiversity patterns and processes across rainforest transformation landscapes” at the Department of Crop Sciences, Division of Agroecology.

The position will be limited until 31.12.2019 and should be filled as soon as possible.

Your duties
The project will investigate the consequences of tropical lowland rainforest transformation to monoculture production systems. It focusses on biodiversity patterns and ecosystem functions at local and landscape scales and strongly relies on experimental approaches. A major focus will be on the assessment of quantitative interaction networks (plant-pollinator, host-parasitoid) relating food web complexity to land-use patterns. This will also include analysis of pollen samples. The doctoral researcher is expected to work largely independently in the field, including the supervision of local field assistants.

Your profile

o    Completed university degree (Master’s Degree) in ecology, biology, agriculture or a related discipline

o    Research focus on plant-insect community ecology and good knowledge of ecological statistics (using R)

o    Proficiency in English

o    Willingness to collaborate with other researchers of the CRC

o    Ability to work under field conditions in the tropics.

The project will be based in Göttingen, but field work is done in Indonesia.

The University of Göttingen is an equal opportunities employer and places particular emphasis on fostering career opportunities for women.
