Job description
This position also has an enterprise-wide,
global function in developing the required strategies, analytics, and toolkits
for other country teams to source and manage market-facing enterprises
successfully through to fruition. The successful candidate will be responsible
for the following work-streams:
- While
developing the investment portfolio and related market-facing initiatives,
key responsibilities will include:
- Build
alliances with key private sector actors in fishery value chains to
establish productive commercial linkages between small-scale fisher and
farming communities with seafood and agricultural processors;
- Develop
and manage regional advisory bodies of stakeholders representing industry,
government, and the NGO sectors to promote and advocate for conditions
enabling small and medium enterprise (SME) propagation;
- Oversee
in-country staff and consultants to identify emerging opportunities and
implement value chain interventions, to improve supply chain management,
product quality, and to optimize economic impact on livelihoods and
resources sustainability;
- Provide
strategic leadership and technical assistance to country operations,
financial management and capacity building of local fishing and farming
organizations;
- Analyze
innovative financial mechanisms to infuse capital into Rare’s sustainable
markets work, such as Social Impact Bonds, Green Bonds, and crowd funding.
- As
the Meloy Fund comes online, key responsibilities will include:
- Identify,
cultivate and execute a pipeline of fresh investment opportunities for the
Meloy Fund;
- Build
an exhaustive network of relationships including corporate, entrepreneur,
NGO, academic, investor – all involved with Private Sector Development;
- Conduct
investment processes including investment evaluations and analyses;
thorough due diligence; and structure and execute investments;
- Prepare,
present, and maintain detailed and compelling investment documentation for
Meloy Fund’s Investment Committee, and Board of Directors;
- Develop
and implement a post-investment management strategy to add significant
value to investee companies, including social and environmental impact;
- Developing
close contact with Meloy Fund investees, including representing the fund
on portfolio company boards;
- Design
and evaluate key metrics to measure the environmental, social and
financial returns on investments;
- Develop
long-term relationships with external stakeholders including funders,
advisors, thought leaders, sector and functional experts to provide
business development and strategic post-investment management across the
fund’s portfolio.
